Cisco set to acquire Broadsoft - report

Cisco is close to a deal to acquire UCC software maker BroadSoft, people with knowledge of the situation told Bloomberg. The takeover could be announced as soon as 23 October. Broadsoft has a market value of about USD 1.7 billion. 

According to the report, BroadSoft has been working with Jefferies Group to seek suitors. It earlier attracted interest from buyout firms Searchlight Capital Partners and Siris Capital Group. 

US-based BroadSoft provides cloud communication services to businesses in about 80 countries. Founded in 1998 by former Alcatel USA vice president Michael Tessler and Celcore executive Scott Hoffpauir, the company went public in 2010.

Cisco completes acquisition of BroadSoft

Cisco completed its acquisition of BroadSoft after receiving anti-trust clearance from the US Department of Justice (DoJ) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The companies entered in an agreement in October, with Cisco saying it would pay USD 55 per share in cash, or a total of USD 1.9 billion net of cash.

Cisco said the companies will together deliver a robust suite of collaboration capabilities across every market segment. The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of next year, subject to the usual closing conditions and regulatory review.

Broadsoft revenues up 9% in Q2, sticks to FY outlook

Unified communications provider BroadSoft reported second-quarter revenues up 9 percent year-on-year to USD 88.8 million, at the top end of its outlook. The company's net loss came to USD 3.0 million from USD 2.9 million a year earlier, while non-GAAP EPS fell to 40 cents from 49 cents a year earlier. The company reiterated its full-year revenue outlook of USD 380-390 million and adjusted earnings per share of USD 2.20-2.50.

Broadsoft launches Broadcloud PaaS

BroadSoft announced the commercial availability of BroadCloud Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS). BroadCloud PaaS is a managed cloud infrastructure enabling service providers to rapidly bring BroadSoft Business cloud applications to market. The BroadCloud PaaS platform provides control over customisations, integrations, and optimises capital expenditure (Capex) and operational expenditure (Opex) as the infrastructure resides within BroadSoft carrier-class data centres, the company said in a press release.

Broadsoft Q1 revenue up 9%, trims FY outlook

Unified communications provider BroadSoft reported first-quarter revenues up 9 percent year-on-year to USD 79.7 million, in line with its outlook. Its net loss widened to USD 10.5 million from USD 1.5 million a year earlier, while adjusted EPS fell to 19 cents from 37 cents a year ago. Broadsoft said it was pleased with the "solid" results and the progress made on its strategic goals during the quarter.
