Lars Christian Lilleholt, the Danish minister for energy, utility supply and the environment, has published the '5G Action Plan for Denmark' at Odense University Hospital. The plan intends to put the country at the forefront of installing and using 5G. It said the main four pillars for the strategy are frequencies, deployment, regulation and application.
The ministry said there will be an assessment of whether or not it would be possible for telecom operators to share networks, whether dedicated local networks could be established, and what barriers there are to rolling out and using 5G.
The plan says 5G is expected to be introduced on the 3.5 GHz band from 2020, and later on the 26 GHz band. There will be an auction of frequencies in the 700 MHz band at the end of February 2019, with use expected from April 2020.
