Deutsche Glasfaser names Telefonica, Unitymedia execs as new CEO, CCO

Deutsche Glasfaser said it has appointed Thorsten Dirks as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective from the end of January. In addition, Ruben Queimano succeeds Jordi Nieuwenhuis in the position of CCO. The current CEO Uwe Nickl and Jordi Nieuwenhuis are leaving Deutsche Glasfaser at the beginning of next year.

Thorsten Dirks was recently director of digital operations at Lufthansa. He previously worked as CEO of Telefonica Germany and CEO of the mobile operator E-Plus.

Nieuwenhuis co-founded Deutsche Glasfaser as managing director. His replacement Queimano comes from cable operator Unitymedia, where he was Vice President Commercial and Product Management. He was appointed Director Broadband after the takeover by Vodafone.

Nickl and Nieuwenhuis are both leaving the company for personal reasons. They will continue to support the development of Deutsche Glasfaser both as investors and in an advisory capacity. Dirks and Queimano, together with the existing management team, will further accelerate the implementation of the strategy that aims to build 6 million connections for private households, companies and government institutions.
