Deutsche Telekom to close shops, focus more on online channels

Deutsche Telekom announced plans to reorganize its distribution channels in Germany. As a result, Telekom will close 99 of its 504 shops by the end of 2021, reduce the number of regions in its distribution organisation to four from six, and invest in building new types of shops, regional marketing and events, and local services. The company also plans to build a network of loyal and strong brand partners for internet sales.

Telekom took the decision to reorganize its distribution channels based on changes in the market and customer behaviour caused by digitization and the internet. The customer frequency in shops is declining, and simultaneously online sales are increasing. The program will be implemented by the end of 2021. Its ultimate goal is to offer an improved shopping experience for customers.
