Increased digitalisation of services and value chains in Europe over the next six years could boost EU GDP per capita by 7.2 percent, equal to a EUR 1 trillion boost in overall GDP, according to new research by Deloitte for Vodafone.
The study examines five key measures that are measured by the EC's Digital Economy & Society Index (DESI) - connectivity, use of internet services, digital public services, integration of digital technology and human capital. The report shows that a 10 percent increase in overall DESI score for an EU member state is associated with a 0.65 percent higher GDP per capita. The report highlights the wider benefits of increased digitalisation in Europe, including increased GDP, as well as environmental, quality of life and inclusivity benefits.
