Relevant Holdings, parent of telecom retailer Option1, has bought an 83 percent stake in The Phone House (TPH) Netherlands from Dixons Carphone for an undisclosed amount. The Phone House has around 200 stores in cities and shopping centres, including six Samsung concept stores. Typhone.nl is included in the transaction.
There is little geographic overlap between Option1 and TPH NL. Option1 sells mobile and fixed telephony, internet, television and fibre optic connections, energy, and accessories. It also has its own service & repair service. Option1 calls itself a local telecom specialist and had, before the transaction, 70 own stores and franchises, present mainly in smaller communities.
The acquisition is expected to complete by the end of June. Dixons Carphone said it will continue to make an active contribution as a minority shareholder. Relevant Holdings is managed by the former founders of MCC, Belcompany and t-for-telecom.
