Docomo Pacific launches 5G service in Marianas Islands
Docomo Pacific has commercially launched its 5G service in the Marianas. Docomo's 5G service is currently available in the villages of Tamuning and Hagatna. Back in March, Docomo Pacific opened its 5G Open Lab, allowing local and worldwide partners to test and co-create services in a 5G environment.

Japanese operator NTT Docomo and MobiledgeX have announced that they will jointly conduct a proof of concept (PoC) in Tokyo on 22-24 January 2020 to verify a service that uses multi-access edge computing (MEC) for the worldwide distribution of applications. Docomo will partner with MobiledgeX to help partners distribute 5G services worldwide.

Docomo completes 5G trials with Japanese producers and overseas mobile operators

NTT Docomo has completed trials in Thailand and Singapore to expand the global adoption of Japanese mobile-network equipment for 5G communications and network services. Docomo carried out these trials in cooperation with Denki Kogyo and Advanced Info Service (AIS) in Thailand, as well as AGC and StarHub in Singapore.

Docomo achieves 5G communication between bullet train and base stations

Japanese operator NTT Docomo has achieved "the world's first 28 GHz-band 5G mobile communications between base stations and a high-speed bullet train" during experimental trials to verify further enhancement of 5G in partnership with Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central). Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo has launched a 'pre-5G' service to coincide with the Rugby World Cup in Japan. The company plans to test the service with customers before a full commercial launch of 5G services in spring 2020. Japanese operator NTT Docomo has teamed up with Omron and Nokia Solutions and Networks to jointly roll out trials of 5G mobile services inside factories. During the trials, Docomo, Omron and Nokia plan to test the feasibility of using 5G connectivity to create layout-free production lines using Autonomous Mobile Robots, which are able to act autonomously in complex and changing environments.
