E-Plus launches new WhatsApp SIM pre-paid tariff
German mobile network operator E-Plus has officially launched a mobile data tariff in partnership with mobile messaging services WhatsApp. The new WhatsApp SIM pre-paid tariff includes free use of the WhatsApp service even when a customer has no credit. The WhatsAll Option package offers 600 units for EUR 10 per month, which can be used for high-speed mobile data, calls or texts. The WhatsApp SIM starter set costs EUR 10 and includes EUR 10 of starter credit. The pre-installed basic tariff charges 9 cents per minute or text within Germany, plus EUR 0.24 per MB data.

WhatsApp must stop giving terms in English to German users

Vzbv, the German consumer association, said the Berlin Regional Court has upheld its complaint and told WhatsApp to stop providing the terms and conditions of its messaging service in English to German customers. The WhatsApp credits need to be improved, too, said the court, so that any complaints can be reported. Its ruling has not yet come into force.

Ay Yildiz discounts high-speed data add-on cost

E-Plus's Turkish community MVNO Ay Yildiz is discounting the cost of extra high-speed data by 50 percent. Customers who download the free Ay Yildiz app can order extra high-speed data for EUR 1.50 between 01 April and 30 June, instead of EUR 3. The discount applies to all options with an internet flat up to 1 GB high-speed data.

E-Plus en WhatsApp hebben het plan opgevat om een prepaidkaart met WhatsApp-optie op de markt te zetten. Dat schrijft Wirtschaftswoche op basis van bronnen binnen E-Plus. Alle tekst, afbeeldingen en video die via WhatsApp worden verstuurd, zullen niet ten koste van de databundel gaan. Dat betekent dat klanten van de WhatsApp-diensten gebruik kunnen blijven maken als hun prepaidtegoed op is. Begin april moet de nieuwe dienst op de markt komen.

German mobile network operator E-Plus and mobile messaging company WhatsApp plan to offer a pre-paid cards with WhatsApp option, 'Wirtschaftswoche' has learned from company sources. All texts, images and videos sent through WhatsApp will not be deducted from the purchased data allowance. This means that customers will still be able to use WhatsApp when their credit has run out.
