Ericsson and Orange Labs Networks have achieved peak rates beyond 10 Gbps for the first time in France, using some key enablers of the future 5G technology. The two companies, which announced their partnership in October 2016, carried out the demonstration at the Orange Gardens facility located in Chatillon (near Paris).
The enablers tested in the demonstration include centimeter waves alongside the so-called ‘beam tracking’ and Massive MIMO technologies. While the test equipment used in the trial still weighs several tens of kilos, smaller prototypes will be available in the coming months.
