Ericsson renames Multimedia unit Support Solutions
Ericsson announced plans to refocus its Multimedia division and rename the unit Support Solutions. The unit will focus on OSS/BSS, TV and media systems and m-commerce going forward. The OSS/BSS operation is based around the acquisition of Telcordia, completed in January, and offers operator systems for service fulfillment, assurance, network optimization and real-time charging. TV & Media will focus on supporting the growth in (mobile) video content, with support for multi-screen delivery. In m-commerce, Ericsson is changing its strategy and withdrawing its consumer mobile money service from April. Instead it will focus on acting as a technology partner for the mobile and financial industries, through products such as the Ericsson Converged Wallet for operators launching prepaid m-wallet services. The Support Solutions unit is headed by Per Borgklint.
