Microsoft to sell IPTV business to Ericsson - report
Ericsson is in talks to buy Microsoft's IPTV business, people with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg. The transaction could be announced within the next few weeks. After selling the MediaRoom software for set-top boxes to Ericsson, Microsoft would focus on delivering TV through its Xbox game console, the report said. Both companies declined to comment on the report. Microsoft's IPTV customers include AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, Beeline and Telefonica.

Ericsson feels qualified optimism for equipment market

US demand and China's mobile network upgrade are expected to support telecom equipment growth this year, Ericsson chairman Leif Johansson told journalists in Hainan, China, during his attendance of the Boao Forum for Asia. Microsoft acquires R2 Studios - report

Microsoft has bought US home-automation and entertainment technology startup id8 Group R2 Studios to merge into its Xbox division, people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal. The company's founder, Blake Krikorian, and a small team will join Microsoft, which has acquired some of R2 Studios' patents related to controlling electronic devices.
