EU trade committee votes against ACTA

The European Parliament's International Trade Committee has recommended that parliament vote against the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. Nineteen MEPs on the committee voted against the ACTA, and twelve in favour. This follows similar votes earlier this month by the Committee on Legal Affairs, Committee on Civil Liberties and the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy. The trade committee used their input to make the final recommendation to parliament. The full parliament will vote on 04 July over the treaty. Separately, the European Commission has referred the matter to the European Court of Justice to judge whether the ACTA complies with human-rights laws.
