The latest Digital Consumer Trends 2020 report from Deloitte on attitudes towards 5G in Ireland shows that 5 percent of respondents are currently using 5G. This compares favourably to the UK, where 2 percent of respondents are currently using 5G.
Almost two thirds (64%) of respondents said they do not know enough about 5G and its benefits, and 20 percent believe there are health risks associated with 5G. The report shows that Ireland compares favourably in terms of 5G network roll-out, with three operators now having active 5G networks with coverage from 30-50 percent of the population by early-2021.
Almost half of all 5G users in Ireland are in the Dublin area and aged under 35 years. Almost one third (31%) of 5G users are on the Vodafone network. One quarter (24%) of respondents want to switch to 5G as soon as it is available, and more than half believe 5G brings better connectivity.
