Free adds 215,000 mobile users, boosts sales 6.6% in Q1

French telecom group Iliad posted revenue up 6.6 percent to EUR 1.15 billion in the first quarter, compared to EUR 1.08 billion a year ago. Its operating subsidiary, Free, had over 18 million subscribers at the end of March, including some 12 million on mobile (4.3 mln on LTE) and more than 6.2 million on landline. Free said it added 215,000 net mobile subscribers in the first three months of the year, allowing it to claim the top position for the seventeenth consecutive quarter. It also said it placed second (of four) in high-speed internet additions, with over 78,000 new customers. 

Iliad's mobile revenue rose 10.4 percent to EUR 483.6 million versus EUR 437.9 million a year earlier. Landline revenue rose 3.9 percent to EUR 664.64 million. Broadband ARPU inched down to EUR 34.40 from EUR 34.50 a month, with Freebox Revolution ARPU stable at EUR 38 a month, excluding promotions. Free expanded its FttH network to pass 2.8 million premises by the end of the quarter, compared to 2.5 million at the end of 2015.
