Global tablet ships fall 13.5% to 33 million units in Q2 - IDC

The latest figures from IDC show that the global tablet market fell by 13.5 percent in Q2 2018 to 33 million units, with Apple and Huawei the only two companies showing growth in the quarter.

Slate tablets accounted for the majority of the market at 28.4 million units in Q2, down 14.5 percent from a year earlier. Apple continued to lead the global tablet market, driven by the launch of new iPad models, upgrades to the OS and its push into the Education sector. Samsung maintained second place, but saw shipments fall 16.1 percent year-on-year. Huawei was in 3rd place with shipments of 3.4 million tablets in the quarter, of almost 50 percent were in the Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan).
