Google, Facebook, Twitter, Telegram face new take-down cases in Moscow court

Ten new claims against Google, Facebook, Twitter and Telegram have been registered in the Moscow Justice of the Peace office, reports Interfax. The cases allege that the internet platforms don't meet the requirements on taking down content prohibited by Russian law. If the court confirms the violations, Telegram would face up to RUB 16 million in fines, Google RUB 12 million, and Twitter and Facebook each RUB 8 millionk.

The court had earlier fined Facebook RUB 26 million, Twitter RUB 8.9 million, and Google RUB 6 million for similar violations. Russian internet company Mail.ru Group was fined RUB 4 million for a similar offence by its social network Odnoiklassniki. Fines were also imposed on Telegram and TikTok.
