Google submits appeal to Russian Supreme Court

The Russian Supreme Court has registered an appeal from Google, reports Prime. The appeal is related to the legal dispute between Google and federal competition watchdog FAS. The regulator has accused Google of violating the Law on Competition in the Russian market for Android mobile apps.

No details about the appeal have yet been announced and no decision has yet been taken by the Supreme Court.

FAS said that Google violated competition law by restricting the pre-installation of mobile applications from other companies on Android smartphones sold in Russia. A fine of RUB 438 million fine was imposed on the company in August 2016.
