Greece raises EUR 200 million in GSM auction
Greek regulator EEET has completed the auction of frequencies in the 900 and 1800MHz bands. The country raised almost EUR 200 million from the auction, which required only one day of bidding. Vodafone Greece acquired three blocks in the 900MHz band and two in the 1800MHz band for a total EUR 111 million, Cosmote took one block in the 900MHz band and two in the 1800MHz band for a total EUR 64.5 million, and Wind Hellas acquired one block in the 900MHz band for EUR 23.3 million. The operators earlier agreed to pay EUR 181.7 million to hold on to their existing rights in the GSM bands.
