Greece raises EUR 200 million in GSM auction
Greek regulator EEET has completed the auction of frequencies in the 900 and 1800MHz bands. The country raised almost EUR 200 million from the auction, which required only one day of bidding. Vodafone Greece acquired three blocks in the 900MHz band and two in the 1800MHz band for a total EUR 111 million, Cosmote took one block in the 900MHz band and two in the 1800MHz band for a total EUR 64.5 million, and Wind Hellas acquired one block in the 900MHz band for EUR 23.3 million. The operators earlier agreed to pay EUR 181.7 million to hold on to their existing rights in the GSM bands.

Vodafone, Wind Hellas merger delayed - report

The proposed merger of Vodafone Hellas and Wind Hellas has been delayed. Greek paper Kathimerini said the companies have yet to reach a final agreement on the deal, as Vodafone is still in negotiations with US-based Largo Ltd, a shareholder in Wind Hellas. Greece to start spectrum auction on 14 November

Greek regulator EETT confirmed that the auction of frequencies in the 900 and 1800 MHz bands will open on 14 November. The three existing mobile operators, Vodafone Greece, Cosmote and Wind Hellas, have all qualified to participate in the auction. The Greek regulator EETT announced that by the 21 October deadline for registering interest in GSM licences, the three existing mobile operators, Vodafone Hellas, Cosmote and Wind Hellas, expressed their interest in renewing their spectrum blocks.
