HMD Global is expanding its range of products under the Nokia brand. The new devices include the rugged XR20 smartphone, the entry-level C30 and a new Nokia 6310 feature phone. HMD also introduces several ranges of audio accessories and announced a partnership with Spotify to pre-install the music service on Nokia phones.
The XR20 is designed to withstand extreme temperatures, up to 1.8m drops and as much as one hour under water. It comes with Corning's Gorilla Glass Victus to protect the display. The phone will be promoted with Brazilian footballer Roberto Carlos and female world champion freestyler Lisa Zimouche, who will put the phone through a series of tests to show off its durability.
The rugged phone is part of HMD's strategy to make more long-lasting phones, responding to consumer demand for sustainable products. Priced at EUR 499, the XR20 comes with four years of monthly security updates and three years OS upgrades. Other features include 5G, a 48MP+13MP dual camera with Zeiss Optics, OZO spatial audio, 15W wireless charging and new imaging software.
In the entry-level C range, the company is introducing the Nokia C30. Priced at EUR 99 and available from 27 July, the phone features the largest battery (6,000 mAh) and biggest screen (6.82 inches) yet on a Nokia smartphone.
The Nokia 6310 is part of the Originals series, to reinvent popular Nokia feature phones from the 1990s. With accessibility at its core, the phone comes with larger push buttons and an ample display, along with zoomed-in menus and larger font options to improve readability. Offered in a choice of four colours, the 6310 will sell for an average EUR 40.
The revamped Nokia audio portfolio features four new lines to target different market segments. Go are the low-cost products, Micro meets demand for compact form factor, Comfort is for consumers seeking optimal comfort in wearables, and Clarity is the top-of-the-range quality earbuds with the latest tech. The first product is the Nokia Clarity Earbuds pro with noise cancelling.
Finally, Nokia is expanding its range of services with two new partnerships. Spotify will be available on Nokia C, G and X series smartphones out of the box, including Spotify Lite for Android Go devices, and ExpressVPN will be available on all new Nokia smartphones with a 30-day free trial.
