HTC launches selfie phone with 8-megapixel front camera
HTC announced a new addition to its Desire range at the Ifa show in Berlin, the Desire 820. Aimed at those who like to take selfies, the phone features an 8-megapixel front camera and apps to mash-up photos with celebrities or friends, smooth out skin colouring in the photos or take a 'photo booth' strip with several moments in a single image. The Desire 820 also comes with a 5.5-inch screen, 13 megapixel back camera, 4G, 2,600 mAh battery and an octa-core, 64-bit processor from Qualcomm. The polycarbonate shell will be available in a range of colours. The HTC Desire 820 will ship later this fall, with a dual-Sim version available in some markets.

HTC unveiled that UEFA Champions League collector's edition smartphone, celebrating the race to the UEFA Champions League Final in Berlin 2015. The limited edition HTC One (M8) x UEFA Champions league is engraved with the iconic UEFA Champions League logo and official trophy. It also features Motion Launch that enables the HTC One (M8) to detect position and movement and imaging capabilities. The UEFA Champions League Collector's Edition smartphone will be available exclusively through HTC promotions.

HTC returns to sales growth in August

HTC reported a return to sales growth in August. Revenues rose 10.4 percent year-on-year and 37.1 percent from the previous month to TWD 14.54 billion. The smartphone maker's revenues in the year to date are still down 13.4 percent from the year-earlier period to TWD 123.33 billion. Sales will need to show continued growth in September in order to meet the company's forecast for third-quarter revenues of TWD 42-47 billion. In July and August, revenues totaled TWD 25.1 billion.

HTC announced the formation of HTC Creative Labs, its own internal innovation centre, along with the release of a new application for Android 4.4 users called Zoe. HTC reported revenues for July of TWD 10.605 billion, down 32.6 percent from a year earlier. Sales more than halved compared to TWD 21.917 billion in June. In the year to date, HTC revenues fell 15.8 percent to TWD 108.786 billion.
