HTC sales fall 44% in February
HTC reported February sales of TWD 11.37 billion, down 27 percent from January and 44 percent lower than a year earlier. In the first two months of the year, revenues fell 27.1 percent from a year earlier to TWD 26.91 billion. The smartphone maker will need to see strong initial sales of its new HTC One flagship phone launching this month in order to meet its forecast for first-quarter revenue of TWD 50-60 billion.

HTC sales fall more than expected in Q1

HTC reported preliminary results for the first quarter showing revenues at TWD 42.8 billion, down 36.9 percent from a year earlier. The company earlier forecast sales flat to lower versus Q4, at TWD 50-60 billion. The year-on-year drop in sales accelerated from 6.5 percent in January to 48.6 percent in March. Operating profit for the three months to March fell to TWD 43 billion, and net profit came in at TWD 85 million or TWD 0.10 per share.

HTC blames One delay on components shortage

A shortage of camera parts and substandard metal casings have forced HTC to delay the launch of its One flagship smartphone, the company's chief marketing officer, Benjamin Ho told Dow Jones. Speaking to reporters for the first time since he took over the job in January, Ho said "productivity (of the parts) is improving" but it will "take time" to ramp up production. HTC delays shipments of HTC One to some markets

Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC will postpone shipments of the HTC One to some countries. "We will start fulfilling pre-orders by end March in certain markets and will roll out to more markets as we approach April," the company told the Central News Agency but did not offer further explanations. Taiwanese company HTC has announced that it will launch its new HTC One smartphone in Italy in April. The device features a 4.7-inch full HD screen (1080p), plus a series of new functions such as HTC BlinkFeed, HTC Zones and HTC BoomSound. The HTC One will retail on the Italian market for EUR 699, but there will also be special offers from the main operators for post-paid customers. Smartphone maker HTC said that a German court has ruled that it has not infringed two patents held by Nokia, according to the Wall Street Journal. HTC said in a statement that the District Court of Mannheim dismissed two of Nokia's complaints against it for infringing a "method for using services offered by a telecommunications network, a telecommunications system, and a terminal for it and electronic display device and lighting control method of same."
