Hyatt Hotels has launched room keys in the Apple Wallet at six hotels in the US. Claiming a first among hotels, the company said that guests in its World of Hyatt programme will be able to securely tap their iPhone or Apple Watch to unlock their rooms and key card-protected common areas like gyms, pools and elevators. The NFC service means no app or plastic room key is needed.
The offer starts at Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, Hyatt Centric Key West Resort & Spa, Hyatt House Chicago/West Loop-Fulton Market, Hyatt House Dallas/Richardson, Hyatt Place Fremont/Silicon Valley and Hyatt Regency Long Beach.
Customers can add their details in the Apple Wallet app after making a reservation at one of the hotels. After they check in, the key is activated on their phone.
Hyatt also offers a digital key on Apple devices using Bluetooth and the World of Hyatt app.
