Iliad Italia unveils new plan with 120GB of 5G data for under EUR 10

Iliad Italia has again refreshed its mobile portfolio to celebrate the third anniversary of its launch, this time replacing its Giga 50 and Giga 100 plans with two new rates offering 80GB and 120GB of data for under EUR 8 and EUR 10 a month respectively. The new 'Iliad Flash 120' plan includes 120GB of data at maximum possible speeds of up to 5G plus unlimited calls and SMS in Italy for EUR 9.99 a month. 

Like the now withdrawn Giga 100 rate, it also comes with unlimited calls to foreign fixed line numbers in dozens of countries as well as unlimited minutes to fixed and mobile numbers in Canada and the US. 'Iliad Flash 120' is initially available until 30 June to customers activating a new number or porting their existing number from all of Italy’s operators.

The new ‘Giga 80’ prepay offer, meanwhile, includes 80GB of data at 4G speeds plus unlimited calls and SMS in Italy for EUR 7.99 a month. SIM cards are available at a cost EUR 9.99 from the operator’s 19 own-brand stores and other outlets, including over 850 Iliad Corners, hundreds of Snaipay sales points and supermarkets via the Iliad Express sales channel.

Iliad Italia tops 10% market share on 3-year anniversary

France's Iliad revealed that its Iliad Italia subsidiary reached a market share of 10 percent on the third anniversary of its launch in the country. According to unaudited financial results released by the Iliad Group ahead of approval by the board of directors, Iliad Italia also broke even for the first time, recording a positive EBITDAaL of EUR 6 million for the quarter. The 10 percent objective was set by Iliad founder Xavier Niel back in March 2017 ahead of the Italian unit's launch in May 2018.

Iliad has accelerated the expansion of its Italian distribution network in recent months, reaching the milestone of 3,000 points of sale all over the country after reaching distribution deals with more chainstores, reports Mondo Mobile Web. Iliad begins summer tour of Italian beach resorts

Iliad Italia said it will be sponsoring a travelling event that will be stopping at 8 of the prime coastal resorts and holiday destinations in Italy this summer. The 'Iliad Vertical Summer Tour' is held in partnership with digital payment service Bpay and media partner Radio Deejay. It will set off from Lignano Sabbiadoro in Udine on 24 July and end up at San Vito Lo Capo in Sicily on 22 August.

Iliad opens 20th Italian store in Bari

Iliad Italia has inaugurated its latest own-brand physical store, this time in the Cassamassima shopping mall on the outskirts of Bari. The space is the operator's second physical store in Bari, joining the other space in the central Piazza Umberto I. It increases the operator's own-brand store footprint to 20 shops in Milan, Turin, Rome, Genoa, Venice, Naples, Catania, Bologna, Florence and Palermo, including the two in Bari.

Iliad up to 9% of Italian SIMs in Q4, WindTre just ahead of TIM on 28%

WindTre remained Italy's leading mobile operator at the end of the final quarter of 2020 despite losing 2.2 percent of its market share in a year, according to the latest quarterly report from regulator Agcom. The end of year ranking saw WindTre on 27.7 of the market, followed by TIM (Telecom Italia) remained second with 26.6 percent, down 0.6 percent year on year, with Vodafone declining 0.8 percent to 23.9 percent of the country's 80 million or so human SIMs.

Iliad Italia prolongs EUR 10 plan with 100GB of 5G data

Iliad Italia has decided to extend the 'Flash 100 5G' plan it launched at the start of the month beyond its 30 March deadline, renaming it 'Iliad Giga 100'. Iliad Italia launches Iliad Express SIM distribution channel

Iliad Italia said it is further expanding its distribution network with the launch of a new channel called Iliad Express to sell its SIM cards at supermarket chains, consumer electronics stores and bookstores throughout the country. Shoppers can now pick up an Iliad gift card at a store and receive a PIN on their receipt at the time of payment, which can later be used to activate the SIM from a dedicated area on the operator's website.

Italian data consumption hits 9.2 GB per user in Q3, up 48% YoY

Average Italian data consumption continued to surge in the third quarter of 2020, reaching an average of 9.2 GB a month per user, up 48.0 percent on the year-earlier average of 6.2 GB, according to the latest quarterly update from regulator Agcom. The report said over 70 percent of human SIMs carried data traffic in the third quarter, with total traffic volumes rising to 4,608 petabytes in the July to September period compared to 3,024 petabytes a year earlier and 771 petabytes in Q3 2016.

Iliad Italia launches 5G in 27 cities with sub-EUR 10 offer

Iliad has become the latest Italian operator to launch commercial 5G services, initially in covered parts of 27 cities throughout the territory with more to come next year. The subsidiary of France's Iliad, which switched on its 5G network last week, had 6.84 million subscribers at the end of September, equivalent to almost 9 percent of the Italian market. It acquired 5G-ready frequencies in the 700 MHz, 3.7 GHz and 26 GHz band for EUR 1.2 billion in Italy's 2018 spectrum auction.
