Intel seeks buyers for connected home division - report
Intel is seeking buyers for its connected home division, according to a report by Bloomberg citing people familiar with the matter. The chipmaker hired a financial adviser to sell its unit. A representative for the company declined to comment. 

Intel CEO Bob Swan said he’s looking at the company’s operations and will look at options for areas where it isn’t competitive. The company sold its smartphone modem business to Apple for USD 1 billion in July.

The company's connected home business makes semiconductors that provide wireless connections in home routers and gateways. Intel's rivals on this market include Broadcom and Qualcomm.

Intel buys Israeli AI chip specialist Habana Labs for USD 2 bln

Intel has bought Israeli AI chip startup Habana Labs for USD 2 billion, following reports the sale would run to USD 1 billion. The startup, which develops programmable deep learning accelerators, will become part of Intel's artificial intelligence (AI) portfolio and push the company's efforts in the AI silicon market, which Intel expects will be worth over USD 25 billion by 2024.

Apple buys Intel smartphone modem business for USD 1 billion

Intel has confirmed an agreement to sell the majority of its smartphone modem business to Apple for USD 1 billion. Around 2,200 employees will transfer to Apple, along with intellectual property, equipment and leases.
