Judge dismisses Apple vs Amazon case over use of 'Appstore'

US district judge Phyllis Hamilton, presiding over a court in Northern California, ruled that Apple did not prove that Amazon was deceiving customers through its use of the term "Appstore" and dismissed the suit brought by Apple in 2011 to prevent Amazon from using the word "Appstore" in its online store for mobile devices, reports the BBC. Amazon argued that it was a generic term to which Apple could not have copyright. Apple said in a statement, "We no longer see a need to pursue our case against Amazon". Amazon welcomed the "conclusive dismissal" of the case.
