KCC slaps KRW 212 mln fine on Google
The Korea Communications Commission has issued a KRW 212 million fine to Google for illegally collecting personal data with its Street View vehicles. The KCC's penalty was ten percent higher than the legal cap of KRW 193 million. The watchdog said it was responding to rising concerns over information privacy, Yonhap writes. South Korea limits fines for unlawful personal information gathering at 1 percent of revenues. Google is also required to delete all the data it has collected illegally and must post the KCC decision on its web site. A Google Korea spokesperson apologised for collecting the data.
