Lenovo acquires CCE to drive PC+ strategy in Brazil

Lenovo has acquired CCE business (the companies' legal names are Digibras Industria do Brasil, Digiboard Eletronica da Amazonia and Dual Mix Comercio de Eletronicos). CCE is a Brazilian PCs and consumer electronics producer. Via the CCE acquisition, Lenovo aims to expand its presence in the Brazilian PC market, with a manufacturing presence and a full suite of consumer products across all four screens – PC, tablet, smartphone and TV. The move more than doubles Lenovo’s PC market share in Brazil, the company said.

Lenovo will pay CCE shareholders around BRL 300 million, in a combination of cash and stock, for 100 percent of the company. Lenovo will retain CCE’s management team including its founder and CEO Roberto Sverner in the combined company. The acquisition is subject to customary closing procedures and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2013. The company’s present business plan does not anticipate any workforce restructurings as a result of the acquisition.
