Lenovo quarterly revenues increase 35%
Lenovo reported revenues up 35 percent year-on-year to USD 8 billion in its fiscal first quarter, while net profit for the three months to June rose 30 percent to USD 141 million. The company claimed a record share of 15 percent of the global PC market, after its computer shipments rose 24.4 percent versus a year earlier in a market otherwise down 2 percent. Lenovo reported double-digit sales growth in all regions, while its home market China remained the largest, with sales up 24 percent year-on-year to USD 3.5 billion. Laptops accounted for 53 percent of group revenues and increased sales 23 percent to USD 4.3 billion. Desktop revenue rose 26 percent to USD 2.5 billion. After one year in the business, Lenovo generated USD 587 million in sales from mobile and smart TV devices, and it claims it is already the second-largest mobile phone vendor in China.
