LG launches Q8 smartphone, a mini V20

LG announced the launch of a new quad-HD smartphone with a 5.2-inch screen, the LG Q8. The Q8 has similar specifications to LG's 5.7-inch V20 model, such as a secondary screen, quad-DAC hi-fi sound and the Snapdragon 820 processor and adds water and dust resistance.

The 4G phone, which runs Android 7 Nougat at launch, will be available from Amazon Italy at the end of July for EUR 599. The company said it will launch first in key European markets, followed by markets in Asia next month.

The company launched a virtually identical smartphone, the V34, in the Japanese market last year.

The Q8 features dual rear cameras, with a 16MP principal sensor as well as an 8MP wide-angle unit, and a single, wide-angled front camera.

The Q8 has internal storage of 32GB, expandable to 2TB using a microSD card, and 4GB of RAM and is powered by a 3,000mAh battery with fast-charging.

Connectivity includes Wi-Fi ac, NFC and Bluetooth 4.2, and the phone weighs 146g and measures 149 x 71.9 x 8mm.

LG announced the launch of the first model in its new Q range, the Q6, earlier in July.
