MasMovil launches sub-EUR 40/mth fibre plus mobile offer

Spanish operator MasMovil has launched a low-cost fibre broadband plus mobile convergent offer in a bid to compete with Movistar (Telefonica), Vodafone and Orange. All of MasMovil’s convergent packages come with unlimited mobile calls and are up to 40 percent cheaper than rival offers, said the company. Users can subscribe to a 50 Mbps fibre service, including unlimited landline and mobile calls, plus 1 GB of mobile data for EUR 36.90 per month, including VAT and line rental. The package with 3 GB of mobile data costs EUR 39.89 per month, while that including 8 GB of data costs EUR 46.89.

In addition, in selected areas MasMovil will be offering a convergent service with 300 Mbps FTTH costing EUR 41.89 for 1 GB of mobile data, EUR 44.89 for 3 GB and EUR 51.89 for 8 GB. The prices are valid until 03 August.

The launch comes after MasMovil paid Orange around EUR 20 million for fixed broadband assets from Jazztel, including fibre access to around 720,000 households in Spain's largest cities.

Spain's MasMovil negotiating deal to use Orange FTTH network

Spanish operator MasMovil has reached a preliminary agreement to use the fibre-optic network of Orange with a view to boosting its convergent offer, according to unnamed sources cited by business daily Expansion. MasMovil already has fibre access to around 720,000 households throughout Spain after paying Orange EUR 20 million to acquire fixed broadband assets from Jazztel and in July the companies announced a joint investment in a new FTTH network that would give each company access to 1 million addresses.

MasMovil joins Spain's big league with Yoigo takeover

The newly formed fourth mobile network operator in Spain, combining MasMovil and Yoigo, is set to take around 8 percent of the total mobile market, according to the latest figures from Telecompaper. While MasMovil will remain the smallest player in the mobile market, its spectacular growth path through a string of acquisitions suggests it is ready to try where Telia failed and take on the big players. Spain's MasMovil launches new international tariffs

Spanish operator MasMovil has launched a new international mobile tariff and plan for prepay and postpay users. The new international bundle comes with 100 minutes of calls to 14 destinations for EUR 5 per month and is available to all MasMovil tariff subscribers. Users can also opt for the operator's new international plan, with 300 minutes of calls to 34 countries, plus 1GB of mobile data for use in Spain and 100 SMS, for EUR 14.95 per month. Spain's MasMovil to retain Pepephone brand

Spanish operator MasMovil has no intention of phasing out the Pepephone brand after acquiring the MVNO, reports website MovilZona, citing MasMovil CEO Meinrad Spenger.
