MasMovil group expands fibre footprint to 10 mln Spanish homes

Spanish operator MasMovil has announced that its fibre-optic service is now available in over 10 million homes in all 50 of the country’s provinces via its Yoigo, MasMovil and Pepephone brands. The company reached its target of 10 million fibre households by the end of 2017 a month ahead of schedule thanks to the 1.6 million homes covered by its own network (mostly confined to cities with a population of fewer than 50,000) and the 8.5 million covered by the network of Orange Spain with which it signed an agreement over a year ago.

In a statement, MasMovil said it had added a further 1 million fibre homes since October with the activation of the service in towns located in the provinces of Alicante, Asturias, Badajoz, Barcelona, Cordoba, Guipuzcoa, La Coruna, Madrid, Malaga, Navarra, Pontevedra, Seville, Valencia, Valladolid, Vizcaya and Zaragoza.

The operator has led the monthly net fixed broadband gains in Spain for eight consecutive months thanks above all to the low-cost convergent offers available via its three brands. Its Yoigo brand is set to follow Vodafone and Orange with the launch of a 1Gbps fibre-optic service for residential and businesses customers starting from 13 December.

Spain's Masmovil to repurchase EUR 68 mln of bonds

Spanish operator Masmovil has announced the launch of a tender offer to repurchase an aggregate total of EUR 68 million of bonds issued in July 2016 and March 2017. The repurchase price for each bond is 113.75 percent of its nominal value with an additional 2.42 percent of accrued interest. The deadline for acceptance is 29 December, with results to be announced on 02 January 2018, said the operator in a statement to markets regulator CNMV.

MasMovil raises price of standalone broadband plans

Spanish operator MasMovil has followed rival Telefonica and increased the price of its basic fixed broadband plans that aren't part of its convergent portfolio, reports Movilonia. The company's standalone 50Mbps symmetric fibre and ADSL service has risen by EUR 3 a month from from EUR 29.99 to EUR 32.99 (including line rental). However, unlike Telefonica, the price hike will only affect new customers and won't be applied to those who have already contracted a plan.

Yoigo latest Spanish operator to launch 1Gbps service

Spanish operator Yoigo, a MasMovil brand, will follow rivals Vodafone and Orange with the launch of a 1Gbps fibre-optic service for residential and businesses customers starting from 13 December, reports Xataka Movil. The service will be available from EUR 65 a month for the standalone broadband connection or EUR 76 a month as a convergent package. Spain hits 6 million active FTTH connections

Spain's fibre to the home (FTTH) footprint accelerated in September, with the country adding some 173,974 active connections to reach a total of 6.06 million at the end of the month, according to the latest data from communications regulator CNMC. The 1.6 million rise in FTTH lines over the past year more than offset the 1.2 million fall in DSL connections, with the latter now totalling 5.4 million, said the watchdog. Masmovil phases out 2GB option on convergent plans

Spanish operator Masmovil has decided to tweak its convergent offer by phasing out the 2GB data options previously available, reports website movilonia.com. The company has opted to simplify its convergent portfolio by offering four combinations with 4GB or 8GB of bundled data. The basic EUR 19.90 a month plan now includes 4GB of data plus 50Mbps ADSL or fibre broadband plus EUR 19.90 a month line rental, while the 300Mbps symmetric fibre plan comes with 8GB of mobile data for EUR 34.90 a month plus EUR 19.

Masmovil service revenues up 22% in Q3, hits 5 mln clients

Spanish operator Masmovil reported service revenues of EUR 262 million in the third quarter of 2017, up 22 percent on a proforma basis from a year earlier. Recurring EBITDA surged 86 percent from a year earlier to EUR 64 million with the company increasing its full-year 2017 recurring EBITDA target to EUR 235 million compared to the previous forecast of around EUR 200 million and revenue growth of over 18 percent compared to the earlier prediction of 10 percent.

Spain's Pepephone officially launches 300Mbps fibre offer

Spanish operator Pepephone has officially launched its standalone fibre-optic offer via the network of parent company MasMovil and Orange Spain. Promising complete transparency, the operator said it will offer symmetric speeds of 300Mbps for EUR 34.60 a month with no permanence clause, and won't be applying any price hikes or short-lived promotions in connection with the plan. Spain's MasMovil negotiating deal to use Orange FTTH network

Spanish operator MasMovil has reached a preliminary agreement to use the fibre-optic network of Orange with a view to boosting its convergent offer, according to unnamed sources cited by business daily Expansion. MasMovil already has fibre access to around 720,000 households throughout Spain after paying Orange EUR 20 million to acquire fixed broadband assets from Jazztel and in July the companies announced a joint investment in a new FTTH network that would give each company access to 1 million addresses.
