Minister says Naver too dominant
Korea's ICT minister Choi Mun-kee has said that Naver is too dominant. The web portal, operated by NHN, has a market share of over 70 percent in the local search industry and Choi said that the company "seems to have too much of the market", The Korea Herald reports. He argued that companies with a large market share should focus more on social contribution but that Naver is still concentrating on enlarging its market share. Naver is currently under investigation by the Fair Trade Commission over allegations that the company asked for unfairly high commissions for ads. Choi did not comment on the investigation.
