Line app exceeds 150 million user milestone
South Korean portal operator NHN has seen the number of subscribers for its mobile messenger app Line hit the 150 million milestone. Line was released in June of 2011 as a group communications services available across multiple devices and network carriers. It achieved 100 million users worldwide in January 2013, nineteen months after its release. Following a rapid surge in users since the latter part of 2012, user numbers in Spain exceeded 10 million, a first among European countries. With this, Line has expanded its growth strategy to include the Spanish-speaking South American region, along with Asia, where is has seen steady growth. Line now offers its services in twelve languages, including the new additions of Spanish, French and Portuguese, in response to the expansion of its user locations.
