Mobistar picks suppliers for cable TV launch
Mobistar has announced agreements with Alpha Networks, Zappware and Siligence to launch its own cable TV services. Alpha Networks will provide systems to manage the interactive services and act as systems integrator. Zappware is supplying the user interface for the decoders and connected devices such as tablets and smartphones. Siligence is supplying the TV decoders for Mobistar. Mobistar expects to launch broadband and TV services over the cable network by the end of the year.

Telenet loses court appeal against cable regulation

Telenet has lost its court appeal against regulations requiring it to open its cable network to resellers. The appeals court in Brussels rejected Telenet's claims. Mobistar calls on BIPT to revise wholesale cable prices

Mobistar will not launch cable services before the end of this year, as previously planned. According to its latest quarterly report, it plans tests of the services over cable networks before year-end, but a commercial launch will not take place. Mobistar expects to report revenues of EUR 934 million and adjusted EBITDA of EUR 218 million for the first nine months of 2014. Belgian cable operator Telenet has announced it does not plan any upcoming shareholders remuneration. The announcement led to speculation the company is holding onto its cash for an acquisition, possibly Orange's local subsidiary Mobistar. Mobistar results continue lower in Q2

Belgian operator Mobistar reported second-quarter revenues of EUR 312.2 million, down from EUR 371.4 million a year earlier. Net profit dropped to EUR 15 million from EUR 22.3 million a year ago. Mobistar net profit drops 74% in Q1

Belgian mobile operator Mobistar reported first-quarter revenues down 19.3 percent from a year earlier, to EUR 317 million from EUR 393 million. The company said regulatory cuts to termination and roaming rates took EUR 6.2 million off sales, while it also saw a 36 percent drop in equipment sales. Service revenues fell 16.2 percent to EUR 278 million, but the company said this pointed to a turnaround after the rate of decline hit 21.4 percent in Q4 2013.
