Motorola's 'shatterproof' X Force to launch in November

Motorola has announced that the Droid Turbo 2 smartphone, already available from Verizon in the US, will be launched in Latin America, EMEA and APAC starting November and called Moto X Force. The device comes with what Motorola describes as a revolutionary shatterproof display, incorporating Moto ShatterShield technology consisting of five layers designed from materials that absorb shock from impact. In addition to a 5.4-inch Quad HD display, the Moto X Force also features a 3,760 mAh battery offering up to 48 hours of battery life, TurboPower charging of up to 13 hours of power in 15 minutes, a 21MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 with 2.0 GHz octa-core CPUs and comes in 32GB and 64GB variations, with a microSD card slot for adding extra storage.

The company has so far only revealed UK pricing of GB 499 for the 32GB version and GB 534 for 64GB, or GBP 32 per month on a two-year Vodafone contract.

Motorola to open own shop in Chicago

Motorola is opening its own shop, in its home city of Chicago. The shop opens 07 November, in time for the holiday shopping season, and will show off the company's smartphones and wearables. Customers will be able to try out the devices as well as see the wide variety of materials available under the Moto Maker customisation programme. It also features a 'Drop Zone' where customers can drop the shatterproof Droid Turbo 2 smartphone on tile, parquet and concrete floors.

Motorola says 50% of people have had smartphone screen crack

A global survey by Motorola has revealed that 50 percent of people worldwide have had a cracked smartphone screen. The survey was conducted in six countries and showed that India had the highest rate at 65 percent, followed by China (63%), Mexico (64%), Brazil (50%), the US (34%) and the UK (38%).

Vodafone gets exclusive on Moto X Play in Spain

Vodafone Spain has announced it will offer two of Motorola's latest smartphones, the Motorola Moto X Play and Moto X Style, on an exclusive basis in stores and online. The Moto X Play is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 with 2 GB RAM, and features a 21-megapixel camera and edge-to-edge 5.5-inch HD display.
