New York Attorney General Letitia James said the state has decided not to appeal the decision by a federal judge that rejected a lawsuit filed by a group of state attorneys general against the merger of T-Mobile US and Sprint. James thanked California Attorney General Xavier Becerra and the 12 other attorney generals that pushed for the merger not to go through, and said the state will now focus on working with the two companies in question, to ensure people “get the best pricing and service possible, that networks are built out throughout our state, and that good-paying jobs are created here in New York.”
A federal judge rejected the appeal lodged by state attorneys general against the deal earlier this month. Over a dozen states launched a lawsuit last summer against the merger, saying the deal would reduce competition and push prices higher.
T-Mobile US and Sprint now hope to complete the merger by 1 April, nearly two years after it was announced.
