Nothing raises further USD 50 mln, to partner with Qualcomm

UK-based consumer technology company Nothing said it has raised a further USD 50 million in funding and will be cooperating with Qualcomm on future products. The company set up by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei recently released its first product, a USD 99 transparent earbud with noise cancellation called Ear and announced that over 100,000 units have been shipped in the first two months.

Nothing said its collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies will see it use the Snapdragon platform to power future tech products. It added that the funding from strategic and private investors will be used towards research and development in preparation for the brand’s entry into new product categories.

The startup previously raised USD 15 million in a Series A funding round from GV, Google's venture capital arm.

Nothing has launched its third product, a new pair of wireless headphones. Called Ear (stick), the white earbuds come in a slim case similar to a lipstick and are priced at EUR 119. They are available to order online and will ship from 04 November. Selected retailers and mobile carriers in Europe and Asia will offer early sales of the headphones from 28 October.

WindTre, the exclusive operator partner in Italy for the Nothing phone (1), has opened pre-orders for the new handset ahead of the official start of sales on 21 July. The operator's customers can now pre-order the 8GB/256GB model in white or black at the list price of EUR 529 via a dedicated page on WindTre's website, specifying a pick-up point at a physical store.

Featuring a transparent back cover with customised light notifications, the device will go on sale 21 July, priced from EUR 469.
