Oi sells towers to Highline, data centre to Piemonte

Oi has sold its UPI Torres towers unit to Highline for BRL 1.06 billion, as the only bidder. In a separate transaction, Titan Venture Capital, a subsidiary of Piemonte Holding, bought the UPI Data Center unit of Oi for the minimum requested amount of BRL 325 million. 

The assets were sold during a hearing, organized by the Judicial Reorganization Court supervising Oi's debt restructuring. Another virtual auction is planned for 14 December to sell the Brazilian operator's mobile business.

Oi sells towers to Highline do Brasil for BRL 1.69 billion

Brazilian operator Oi announced the sale of its special purpose unit SPE Tower 2 to Highline do Brasil for BRL 1.69 billion. Of this amount, BRL 1.08 billion will be paid at the closing of the transaction and up to BRL 609 million by 2026, depending on the future quantity of infrastructure items to be negotiated. The effective conclusion is subject to approvals from the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) and by the National Agency of Telecommunications (Anatel).

Oi receives binding bid from Highline for fixed network infrastructure sites

Brazilian operator Oi has received a binding bid from NK 108, an affiliate of Highline do Brasil II, to acquire 8,000 fixed network infrastructure sites, including all assets, agreements, rights, obligations, licences and other necessary equipment. If it wins the competitive process, NK 108 intends to acquire all of the shares in a special purpose vehicle (SPE) holding the assets for up to BRL 1.67 billion, of which BRL 1.08 billion would be paid at closing and the rest by 2026.

Oi extends deadline to complete debt restructuring - report

The deadline for the completion of the judicial recovery process of Brazilian operator Oi has been extended again due to "pending dilligences", sources told O Globo. The process had already been extended from the end of March to the end of May.

Telefonica, TIM and Claro Brasil announced that they expect to complete their joint takeover of Oi's mobile assets on 20 April. This follows completion of all necessary regulatory approvals and other conditions.

Brazilian operator announced that the sale of Tower UPI to Highline has been completed. All shares issued by the Tower Special Purpose Entity (Tower SPE) have been transferred to Highline, which, in turn, made a cash payment of BRL 861.7 million, out of the total price of BRL 1.07 billion.

Oi ends Q4 2020 with net profit of BRL 1.8 billion

Brazilian operator Oi reported a net profit of BRL 1.79 billion for Q4 2020, reversing the net loss of BRL 2.26 billion it recorded in the same period of 2019. Net revenue reached BRL 4.77 billion in Q4, down 2.8 percent from a year earlier, while routine EBITDA rose 5.5 percent to BRL 1.49 billion, for a margin of 31.2 percent (+2.4%). The company ended the year with net debt of BRL 21.7 billion (+36.9%), and total investments reached BRL 1.73 billion (-12.8%).

Highline plans to take part in 5G auction, eyes ISPs as partners

Highline is planning to take part in Brazil's 5G auction in partnership with small ISPs, according to the director of Business Development, Luis Minoru, reports Telesintese. Besides 4,500 telecom towers and spectrum, Highline will offer regional ISPs a complete package of products for mobile operation, including network core, OSS/BSS layer, electronics and antennas, among other elements. A pilot project is already being done with a regional operator, which owns spectrum in the 2.5 GHz band.

The joint bid of TIM Brasil, Telefonica Brasil and Claro Brasil for Oi's mobile business has been declared the winner, with an offer of BRL 16.5 billion (EUR 2.7 billion). The three rivals increased their bid in July and entered exclusive talks with Oi in August. No higher bidders appear to have emerged, allowing the three companies to divide up the business amongst themselves.
