OnePlus announced plans to expand beyond smartphones into the smart TV market. The company said it's using its expertise in design, image quality and audio experience to bring "intelligent connectivity" to the home.
The project was announced by the company's CEO Pete Lau on the OnePlus user forum. He provided few details on the type of device under development, but announced a contest for users on the forum to suggest a name for 'OnePlus TV'.
OnePlus has released eight smartphones in the past five years as well as developed its own operating system. The company claims over 5 million customers worldwide. Its parent company Oppo is already active in producing other forms of consumer electronics.
