Norwegian web browser developer Opera Software revealed that it has been in discussions to divest its TV business for some time. In a short statement, the company said no agreement has yet been made nor is certain to be made but the process has been run as part of its broader strategic review. The aim is to ensure that the TV business “achieves its full potential under a different ownership structure”, said Opera.
The Norwegian company added that the Golden Brick Silk Road Fund Management, the Chinese group that has offered to acquire Opera for USD 1.2 billion, was informed of the process before announcing its takeover bid on 10 February.
