Orange to launch NFC version of Nokia Lumia 610
Nokia announced plans for the launch of a NFC version of its Lumia 610 smartphone with Orange early in the third quarter. The low-cost Windows phone is aimed at younger users and will be able to pair with NFC accessories, read NFC tags and support NFC payment and ticketing services. It has been certified for contactless payments both with MasterCard PayPass technology and with Visa's mobile application for payments at the point of sale, Visa payWave. Orange has been testing a range of NFC-based services across its operations in Europe and updating customer Sims since last year to support the services. It already stocks several NFC handsets, such as an adapted Samsung Galaxy SII, the Acer Liquid Express and the recent Sony Xperia S.
