Digital music service Pandora has announced that anyone can now access its Premium tier with on-demand listening after viewing a 15-second video ad. Regular listeners and those on the company’s mid-tier Pandora Plus offering will be able to unlock a Pandora Premium listening session after agreeing to watch a video ad. The feature appears when users search for a specific song, album or playlist in the app. They’ll then be given the option to watch a video advertisement for at least 15 seconds to unlock the complimentary on-demand session.
The USD 9.99 Pandora Premium service was launched earlier this year, allowing subscribers to search and play any track or album and offering a set of playlist features tailored to each person’s distinct preferences. The new service help the company boost its third-quarter revenues by 8 percent year-on-year to USD 378.6 million, with subscription revenue up 50 percent to USD 84.4 million.
