Albania's Competition Authority has approved an agreement for the transfer of frequencies of the mobile operator Plus to Vodafone Albania and Telekom Albania. The spectrum transfer also was tentatively approved by the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP), reports Ata.
The telecommunications regulator established that the market exit of operator Plus does not change the conditions for continuation of optimal competition between the remaining operators, Vodafone Albania, Telekom Albania and Albtelecom, which showed no interest in this sale. Plus demanded the sale of its licenses, arguing that it is in financial difficulty and it is impossible to continue offering services. The operator owns licences to use frequencies in the 900, 1,800 and 2,100 MHz bands.
