Proximus and Belfius have unveiled more details of their planned joint telecom and banking offer. Expected to launch in late September, Banx promises to open a new account for customers in less than five minutes. The services will be available for any resident of Belgium.
The focus is on making it quick and easy to open an account. The customer only has to scan their ID, choose the form of account and provide an electronic signature. With a click on the 'split bill' button, they can share a payment with someone else, regardless of which they bank they use currently, and transfers to other Belgian bank accounts are effectuated instantly.
Banx also is introducing 'slow banking', with a focus on sustainability. Working with the company Doconomy, Proximus developed a personal CO2 dashboard, to help customers get an idea of how their purchases impact the environment. This is considered a first step to developing more joint initiatives supporting environmental sustainability.
Pre-registration for Banx is now open, and these customers will be informed first about new features and partnerships. The first version of the Banx app should be available for all smartphone users this autumn.
