Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G mobile platform
Qualcomm Technologies unveiled the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G Mobile Platform, a follow-on to the flagship Snapdragon 865 that powered more than 140 devices. The new Snapdragon 865 Plus is designed to deliver increased performance across the board for superior gameplay and fast Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite Gaming experiences, truly global 5G, and ultra-intuitive AI. 

Snapdragon 865 Plus with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF System enables truly global 5G, world-class gaming, and the latest 5th generation Qualcomm AI Engine for seamless camera, audio, and gaming experiences. With a full arsenal of Snapdragon Elite Gaming premium features, Snapdragon 865 Plus delivers desktop-quality gaming with first-to-mobile features like updateable GPU drivers and desktop forward rendering, ultra-smooth 5G gameplay at lightning speeds of up to 144 fps, and True 10-bit HDR gaming to provide cinematic detail in over a billion shades of color. Qualcomm earnings fall less than expected, reaches new licensing deal with Huawei

Qualcomm reported results for its fiscal third quarter to June down sharply from a year earlier, due to the slump in the mobile phone market. Nevertheless, earnings fell less than the company's guidance, to USD 0.74 from USD 1.75 a year ago, and Qualcomm said it ended its long-running licensing dispute with Huawei with a new agreement.

Samsung has announced a 5G version of its Galaxy Z Flip clamshell phone. It goes on sale in the US 07 August for USD 1,450. The phone is available in the new colours Mystic Gray and Mystic Bronze, at AT&T, Best Buy, Amazon, T-Mobile US and Samsung's online shop.

Qualcomm completes first C-V2X trial with Audi, Ericsson

Qualcomm said that it has completed the first C-V2X trial with Audi, Ericsson, Swarco Traffic Systems and the University of Kaiserslautern. The test was carried out to analyze the performance of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology, and provide further evidence of the complementary nature of short-range direct and cellular wide-range communication with C-V2X. Testing started in December 2016.

Qualcomm Technologies released the Qualcomm Robotics RB5, what it calls the world's first 5G, AI-enabled robotics platform. The offering is designed specifically for robotics. Building on the Qualcomm Robotics RB3 platform and its broad adoption in a wide array of robotics and drone products, the Qualcomm Robotics RB5 platform is comprised of an extensive set of hardware, software and development tools. Commercial products based on the Qualcomm Robotics RB5 platform are expected to be available in 2020.
