Rigoni named new Telecom Italia chief revenue officer
Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced the appointment of Federico Rigoni as its new Chief Revenue Officer, replacing Lorenzo Forina. Rigoni is a former head of Ericsson Italia and Nokia Italia who was appointed TIM’s Chief Procurement Unit and Real Estate Officer last April. Forina stepped down as part of a wider overhaul of TIM’s commercial structure, above all in the wake of the company’s recent data centre and cloud-based partnership with Google, according to a previous Reuters report.

In a statement, TIM confirmed that Rigoni’s appointment is part of a reorganisation process involving the commercial structure of the group, aimed at strengthening the commercial strategy customer value in the light of new opportunities offered by 5G, content distribution and the development of Cloud, Edge Computing and IoT products and services.

Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced the appointment of Stefano Siragusa as its new Chief Revenue Officer, replacing Federico Rigoni, who has reached a mutual agreement to leave the group. In turn, Siragusa's previous role as Chief Technology & Operations Officer will be taken by Nicola Grassi, former head of the company's Procurement Department, a position now filled by Paolo Chiriotti.

Ericsson helping TIM launch smart speaker voice calling

Ericsson announced an extension of its IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) partnership with Telecom Italia (TIM) that will help the Italian operator upgrade its existing IMS network for both fixed and mobile services. The deal will enable TIM to expand its Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and broadband telephony services to most of its customer base, said the Swedish vendor.

Telecom Italia (TIM) has accelerated its plan to create a new company for cloud and edge computing services by acquiring 100 percent of ICT services provider Noovle for an undisclosed amount. The Milan-based cloud services company is one of Google's main partners in the Italian market and TIM said the deal will allow it to expand its public, private and hybrid cloud services offer for Italian businesses, including SMEs, large industry, public administration bodies and healthcare providers.

Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced the appointment of Carlo D'Asaro Biondo to implement the TIM Cloud Project in partnership with Google. D'Asaro Biondo previously headed Google's European Partnerships Solutions team and was responsible for launching the "Digital News Initiative" project. He will support TIM CEO Luigi Gubitosi with the implementation of the cloud project launched last month and the development of the partnership agreement with Google covering cloud and edge computing services.

The board of directors of Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced the establishment of a new supervisory body following an initiative of the company's board of statutory auditors, which has been carrying out the task since 2012. The new and separate structure will provide specialist supervision under the chairmanship of Giuseppe Pignatone, assisted by Carlo Piergallini, the statutory auditor Anna Doro and the head of the company's audit department Gianfranco Cariola.

He will be responsible for group-level oversight of vendor assessment and management of procurement processes, monitoring markets for the purchase of products and services, and ensuring overall optimisation of requirements, operating and financial results, said the operator.

Telecom Italia (TIM) and Google announced the official signing of a strategic partnership covering cloud and edge computing services following the MoU signed in November. Under the deal, the partners will work together to build innovative public, private and hybrid cloud services for TIM's expanding technology services portfolio, with the operator aiming to generate EUR 1 billion in revenues and EUR 0.4 billion in EBITDA from cloud technologies by 2024.
