RIM adds 1 mln BlackBerry subscribers in EMEA
Research In Motion announced on Twitter that the company has added over 1 million BlackBerry subscribers in the EMEA region in less than three weeks. The announcement comes amid concerns the BlackBerry platform is losing ground against rivals Apple and Android. RIM issued a profit warning and announced a round of job cuts last month, after its results in the first quarter were below expectations.

RIM quarterly sales fall 10%, profit halved

Research In Motion reported revenues for its fiscal second quarter to 27 August down 10 percent from a year earlier, to USD 4.2 billion. During the quarter, RIM shipped 10.6 million BlackBerry smartphones and 200,000 PlayBook tablets. RIM unveils new range of BlackBerry 7 phones

Research In Motion unveiled five new smartphones running the latest version of its BlackBerry operating system. Two new versions of the Blackberry Bold and three new BlackBerry Torch phones will launch later this month with the BlackBerry 7 OS. RIM streamlines top management, to cut 2,000 jobs

Research In Motion announced plans to cut 2,000 jobs and streamline its top management in an effort to boost growth. The company gave more details on its cost optimisation plan first announced in June, saying North America employees will be the first to get their notice this week. After the 2,000 lay-offs across its global workforce, RIM will have a total of around 17,000 employees. Management changes include the retirement of Don Morrison, the COO for BlackBerry who is currently on temporary medical leave.

RIM cites strong BlackBerry sales in Netherlands

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 was the best-selling handset in the Netherlands in May, according to Research In Motion citing figures from GfK Retail & Technology. RIM said in a statement that BlackBerrys also topped the smartphone sales list in the UK, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and the UAE in May. Worldwide, there are 67 million BlackBerry users, versus 55 million in November 2010.

RIM plans job losses after cut in FY outlook

Research In Motion cut its full-year outlook citing a "challenging" start to its fiscal year. The BlackBerry maker reported revenues for the fiscal first quarter to 28 May of USD 4.9 billion, down 12 percent from the previous quarter and up 16 percent from a year earlier.
