RIM drops BBX for BlackBerry 10

Research In Motion is adopting the name BlackBerry 10 for its latest operating system, after it was forced to stop using the earlier announced name BBX. Announced in October, BBX combines the BlackBerry phone OS and the QNX system used on its PlayBook tablet. However, the company immediately ran into trouble when the company Basis International sued RIM over the trademark on BBX. Basis secured an injunction in US court requiring RIM to stop using the BBX name at its DevCon conference in Singapore underway this week. RIM said in a tweet that BlackBerry 10 will now be the official name for the next generation of its smartphone OS.
