Samsung delays Galaxy Note 7 deliveries for quality checks
Samsung announced that deliveries of its latest flagship, the Galaxy Note 7 will be delayed while it conducts additional quality controls on the smartphone. The news is a major setback for the company after seeing very high demand for the phone during the pre-order period started earlier this month.

Yonhap News Agency in Korea reported the news, which Samsung confirmed to Reuters. The company did not provide more details on the quality tests or which markets will see shipments delayed. The phone launched in Samsung's home market South Korea and other countries earlier this month, and reports in Korea have claimed that the battery on some phones exploded and Samsung is investigating the affected devices.

Samsung has previously said demand for the new Galaxy Note phone is far exceeding supply, forcing it to push back the launch date in some markets. Since its official launch on 19 August in Korea, the large-screen Note has sold out, after pre-orders exceeded 400,000 units, more than double the figure for the flagship Galaxy S7 launched in March.
