Samsung kicks off Galaxy S III marketing campaign in US

Samsung has confirmed the launch of its Galaxy S III smartphone in the US, on 21 June. The flagship device is available online on T-Mobile USA's website and in select retail stores, while AT&T, Sprint, Verizon Wireless and US Cellular will have the Galaxy S III in-store and online within the next several weeks. The launch kicked off in New York City with an event hosted by actress Ashley Greene and attended by 500 Samsung fans at Skylight Studios. They could test drive the Galaxy S III and get their picture taken with NBA stars. To celebrate the launch, Samsung Telecommunications America also will donate USD 1.5 million to the World Wildlife Fund and promote the charity on its Facebook page. Other promotional tie-ins include Samsung Share-to-Go Stations across the country, where Galaxy S III users can download content directly using the NFC function; the Samsung Galaxy SIII Cinema Game, where cinema audiences can interact with a 3D phone on-screen and move the images with hand motions to score points; and a promotion in New York to show consumer videos on the Samsung Big Board in Times Square and on Samsung's social media channels. Samsung also presented Beacon, a new mobile-only magazine and content hub with mobile tips, information and entertainment.
